The maritime industry includes all enterprises engaged in the business of designing, constructing, manufacturing, acquiring, operating, supplying, repairing and maintaining vessels as well as shipyards, dry docks, shipping and freight forwarding services and similar enterprises. The maritime industry has a strong focus towards the import-export trade and about 90% of the global trade is transported by sea. However the industry needs to embrace new technologies to ensure its sustainability for the future.
