The automotive industry is one of the world's leading economic sectors by revenue, and at the same time one of the most competitive industries in the world.
Since recent economic developments and environmental regulations ask for creative measures and an increasing pace of innovation, it is no wonder the participating countries are promoting this sector for technology exchange, workforce development, and a monetary push to support their competitive strength in the industry.
General Sector Information
The automotive industry consists of the design, development, manufacture, marketing, distribution and selling of motorized transportation devices. The automotive industry is a huge employer for skilled workforce and a key driving force for knowledge and innovation in an economy. It is predicted that in the coming years one-third of world demand will be coming from the four BRIC markets. Other emerging auto markets are also already buying more cars than the established markets. Emerging markets accounted for 51 percent of the global light vehicle sales in 2010. Global studies expect this trend to accelerate.
Furthermore there is a strong demand from these emerging markets for public transport and distribution vehicles.
